Insecurity is not = to humility

Being humble I believe is such an important thing. The bible clearly states many many times that God exalts the humble, shows favor to the humble, and that with humility comes wisdom. This gives humility a heavy weight of importance in my life.

However, even with the best intentions, the enemy likes to twist your thoughts, and turn it against you. That is what happened to me anyways. Often times humility has been mistaken as denying your gifts, denying attention, and telling yourself that "I'm not that great." Nuh uh! It's honestly the opposite.

Multiple times in my life after receiving a complement, (even recently) I would just brush it aside, to "keep myself humble". But I have come to realize that humility is so much more than just a mindset. It's a heart attitude. And it's the realization that God has given you wonderful talents and gifts that you now get to recognize to their full extent.

I found myself denying peoples words of encouragement to me. And I truthfully thought that was just humility. But denying what others told me, ended up creating insecurities in me that weren't there before. I grew to actually believe that I wasn't that amazing. Bruh, telling yourself you're not "that amazing:" isn't humility, it's insecurity.

Now, don't confuse what I'm saying as a way to excuse being prideful, because that's not what I'm getting at. What God has revealed to me recently, is that humility is seeing the gifts that he is given you, using them to their full potential, but knowing that at the end of the day, he is the source, not your own greatness.

If we don't fully recognize the gifts God has given us, how is God going to use us? How can God use us if we are busy putting ourselves down, and not recognizing the gifting's, and the graces He has given us, and put in us?!

Humility can look like putting others first, and mentally knowing that every good and perfect gift comes from God, and God alone. Nothing I have is separated from what God has given me, we need to learn to live life hand in hand with God, in everything we do. And humility is just a byproduct of that.

In order to become who we are created to be, we have to be able to recognize the gifting's we carry. And not "create" false humility, which then can lead to man made insecurity. I have really been working on implementing this in my own life, and it hasn't been easy. But the facts are that God wants me to acknowledge my gifting's, and use them, not ignore them. And he wants the same for you. Now all you have to do is see your gifting's, and embrace them. And guess what, when someone complements you, take it! Because facts are just facts.
